Picacho Peak, Arizona is a state park we stayed at on our way to Prescott from Tucson, Arizona. It is known for an insane numbers of Mexican Poppies and Desert Lupine. But, we were a couple weeks too early for the blooms. Our site was stunning, private, and spacious. A gem in the desert.
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is our favorite place to visit when in Tucson. Even though we were staying near Tombstone, we needed to go to Tucson about once a week for errands. Making a stop at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum became a routine. They also have a very good restaurant.

Sonoita and Elgin, Arizona
We enjoyed visiting a few of the numerous wineries in the Sonoita and Elgin Arizona area. Most of the grapes are grown locally and some come from Willcox. Its also cattle country.
Bisbee, Arizona Copper Mining
Bisbee, Arizona is in the southeastern corner of Arizona. It is near the Mexican border town of Naco. Bisbee was founded as a copper, silver and gold mining town in 1880. A byproduct of copper mining yielded high quality turquoise along with numerous other minerals.
Tombstone, Arizona
Tombstone, Arizona is in Cochise County and was one of the last boomtowns in the American Frontier. Silver was discovered and the population soared from about 100 to 14,000 in the 1800s. There were 110 saloons, 14 gambling halls, and numerous brothels.
Dragoon, Granite Boulders Southern Arizona
We needed some wide open spaces after spending a month at the crowded Western Way Resort in west Tucson. Dragoon is southeast of Tucson and in Cochise County.
