RV storage is expensive, especially in California. After our Airstream service was complete, our service advisor gave us the name of a storage place in Temecula that was reasonably priced.
RV Storage
Most uncovered outdoor RV storage facilities in San Diego charge about $300/month for our Airstream. We considered storing it in Arizona or Nevada because the rates are much lower in those states, however, we like having it near us for maintenance and for getting it ready for a trip.
Murrieta RV Storage
Bill and his sister are the owners. He is a very personable guy who loves to spend months at a time in his RV in Baja, California. Bill’s personality would do well in Humboldt, California. His storage facility is a bit rustic with lots of trees that could drop branches, but we needed somewhere fast and his rate was $120/month. Our site was secure and spacious, but not very level.
Wine Ranch Grill and Cellars
Whenever we are in Temecula-Murrieta, we try to have lunch at one of the wineries. The Wine Ranch is very close to Bill’s RV storage. We had a delicious Primitivo from Lodi with a flatbread at Wine Ranch.
Santee Lakes RV Storage
We were on their wait list of over 200 people for over 2 years. They have covered storage at a much better price than other places in San Diego. Worried about Bill’s pine and eucalyptus trees causing damage to the Airstream, we decided to pay a little more for a covered, level and very secure storage facility that was closer to our home. However, we will miss our conversations with Bill and the Temecula vineyards for lunch.
We bought a solar panel to keep our Lithium batteries charged. We’ve stayed at Santee Lakes numerous times and enjoy our times here.
Poppies were in bloom.
La Playa, Point Loma, California
We visited our friends Teresa and Pat who live in Point Loma. After a delicious lunch we went for a walk in La Playa. There are small beaches that overlook the San Diego Yacht Club.
Along the trail that leads to the beaches, there were so many flowers planted by the nearby homeowners.
The Crosby
Back in San Diego, we had to do a lot to the house and yard. After years of being away, the house was in need of some attention. We sold all of our furniture and belongings, other than what could fit in our RV so we are slowly replenishing it. It is nice to have comfortable furniture again to enjoy our home.
Jake loves his home and yard.
Jake doesn’t like crows or coyotes in his yard. He chases them away. Unfortunately, he sprained his wrist chasing a crow. Fortunately, there were no fractures or tendon ruptures, so just some rest was needed.
Every day, weather permitting, Jake gets about an hour walk. Michael rejoined a local gym to lift weights. Sandy started painting again and Michael picked up ceramics after a 50 year hiatus.
The Crosby has numerous lakes. There are three that Jake likes to walk at. We usually see frogs, herons, ducks, turtles and plenty of flowers.
Sandy feeds the hummingbirds.
She also feeds the hawks, who hang out at the bird feeders to dine on doves.
Taste of Thai
It is near our house. They were in Del Mar, but moved further inland. The Thai food is delicious, but the new decor is sterile and feels more like a carry out fast food restaurant and not a place to sit down and eat compared to their old location.
Flowers
One of the amazing things about San Diego is all the flowers. Throughout the year there is always something in bloom. Its probably why there are so many hummingbirds here. Rock purslane, citrus trees, birds of paradise, sunflowers, day lilies, iris, bottle brush, and magnolias are just a few.
