Springtime in Del Mar, California is a magical season filled with flowers, warmer temperatures, and breathtaking scenery. This charming coastal town, north of La Jolla, is known for its stunning beaches, upscale dining options, and social scene. Just south of Del Mar but north of La Jolla is Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. It is one of the most stunning natural attractions in the San Diego area. This protected parkland features towering cliffs, sweeping ocean views, and an abundance of native flora and fauna. In the spring, the reserve is particularly beautiful, with wildflowers blooming throughout the park. Torrey Pines has an extensive trail system to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of this unique coastal ecosystem.
Del Mar
We owned three different homes here. Even though the beaches are incredible, the crowds, parking, and the persistent marine layer were deciding factors to move a little inland for breathing room and sunshine. While we lived here, we frequently walked the beaches. Michael would boogie board, surf, and snorkel for lobster. The Del Mar Fair occurs every summer. It feels like a State Fair, but with less livestock judging.
The Farmers Market and the Del Mar Fair are favorites among locals and visitors alike. This weekly market is held every Saturday and features a wide variety of fresh produce, artisanal goods, and gourmet food items. Del Mar is known for its pristine beaches, and spring is the perfect time to hit the sand. The crowds are smaller than in the summer months, and the weather is still warm enough to enjoy the ocean.
The Del Mar Seaside Trail is a scenic walking and biking path that runs along the beach, offering stunning views of the ocean and the coastline. Taking a leisurely stroll along the trail there are plenty of shore birds and in the spring the flowers in bloom.
Viewpoint Brewery, Del Mar
Del Mar is home to a wide variety of restaurants, from casual cafes to upscale fine dining establishments. No matter what your taste preferences are, there’s something for everyone in this foodie paradise. The Brewery has a very casual atmosphere which opens to the outside and dogs are allowed in the restaurant.
Invita, Rancho Santa Fe
Invita is across the street from the community we live in. It is a small cafe that is a treat to go to. Sandy likes their lox toast.
Goli Restaurant
Goli is also across the street from where we live. Their pizzas are amazing, especially with a bottle of wine.
Fiesta Island
Fiesta Island has a huge dog park where dogs enjoy being off leash and the opportunity to get into the bay and cool off. We enjoy meeting Teresa there. She frequently brings a dog that is being fostered. Jake has the time of his life running with Teresa’s dogs.
In conclusion, Del Mar, California, is a beautiful and exciting destination in the springtime. With its stunning natural scenery, delicious cuisine, and charming small-town atmosphere.
