We left the vineyards and smoke filled air of Kelowna and traveled northeast to the smoke filled air of Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks in British Colombia. There were over 566 wildfires in British Colombia. A state of emergency was declared. Most of the fires were caused by lightning. Even though the fires took away from the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains and severely limited our activities, we still explored and enjoyed the hiking trails and waterfalls.

From Banff we drove 4 hours to Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada along the jaw dropping scenic Icefields Parkway. The parkway is a must when in the area.

From Kootenay in British Colombia, we traveled to Banff National Park in Alberta Canada. It’s one of the most visited National Parks in North American with over three million tourists annually.

From Glacier National Park we crossed into British Colombia, Canada and made our way to Kootenay National Park. The border crossing was easy and short. They only asked about guns, fruits and vegetables, and how much alcohol we had.
Glacier National Park, Northern Montana
From Missoula, Montana we headed north to Glacier National Park. The rugged snow capped mountains straddling the continental divide were breathtaking. The drive from Missoula was scenic, especially the road around Flathead Lake. Kalispell had a Costco. We had to go easy on the fresh supplies since our next destination would be Canada, so fresh vegetables and fruits, meat, dairy products, poultry and alcohol are restricted.
