From the Badlands, we drove 5 hours to Larchwood, Iowa to be close to Sioux Falls in order to have an air conditioner replaced and for our annual physician visits.
Larchwood, Iowa
It was only about 100 yards to the South Dakota border and 20 miles to Sioux Falls. Other than the casino, there were miles upon miles of hay and corn fields. Larchwood only has a population of about 900 people.
Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort
A hidden gem among all the nearby Sioux Falls highway adjacent RV parks. The Casino is only 7 years old. They had a very nice pool and spa. On weekends, there was live music. There were hardly any trees, just open farm land. Daily, the wind was at least 20 mph. Our neighbors awning ripped off in the wind. We even had tornado alerts, but no one seemed to mind it. We enjoyed the restaurants and a relative smoke free environment. To celebrate their 7th year, the Casino did a fireworks display. Jake seemed to like it, even though he growled and barked at the big ones all the while wagging his tail.
The RV park was next to the driving range. After 6 pm, there was no one there, so Jake relished being off lease while we practiced putting. The RV park had 50 amp service, 60 psi water pressure, sewer, but no internet. Verizon signal was great. We made some new friends there.
Sioux Falls
The city had just about everything one needs including a Costco. Even during rush hour, there was no traffic and it was easy getting around the city.
Sculpture Walk
Every year, artists exhibit their works in downtown Sioux Falls for everyone to enjoy and vote on.
It was fun looking at all the art and exploring the shops and restaurants that downtown Sioux Falls had to offer.
